Charity and Sponsorship

The reason we are all working together to stage the Go Dad Run events is to get men thinking and talking about their health and also to raise funds for our five wonderful charity partners. Once you complete your registration you will have the opportunity to sponsor or support Prostate Cancer UK, Bowel Cancer UK, Orchid, CALM or Dimbleby Cancer Care. Thank you!

Getting There

If you are coming by train you can use either the Bermondsey or Canada Water Underground stations on the Jubilee Line or Rotherhithe, Canada Water or Surrey Quays on the London Overground.

The race hub will be based in the northern section of the park. The nearest entrances will be from Jamaica Road or the northern section of Lower Road.

The following buses use the Jamaica Road entrance to the park – 47, 188, 381, C10 and P12.

There are very limited car parking facilities in and around Southwark Park.

These will be situated at the Event Hub.

Bag Storage

This is located next to the registration tents at the Event Hub. Please note that space is limited so it is best to travel as lightly as possible.

The group warm up will commence approximately 15 minutes before the 5K is due to start.

The start

The 5K run will begin off at 10.30am and will take you twice around Southwark Park so we will start gathering you into the start area at 10.20am. The run will finish where it began.

The 10K run will start from the same place, 10 minutes after the start of the 5K, and take you four times around Southwark Park.

The finish

When you cross the finish line you’ll be handed your Sanlam Go Dad Run medal and your Big Yellow Goodie Bag. The first three home in each of the 5K and 10K will also be awarded special prizes.

Venue information

The park was opened in 1869 and our event will start and finish at the 19th century Bandstand and take in the boating lake and several avenues of tree as it winds its way around two laps.

The park also contains a café, art gallery and children’s play area and there are plenty of places where spectators will be able to cheer on the men and boys.

There will be marshals around the course to support and encourage you.

Please take care when running around the course as this is public land and local residents will be out and about. Please always stay on the left unless otherwise guided.

Drinks and snacks will be available at the finish line and there will be a water station on the course.
