The reason we are all working together to stage the Go Dad Run events is to get men thinking and talking about their health and also to raise funds for our five wonderful charity partners. Once you complete your registration you will have the opportunity to sponsor or support Prostate Cancer UK, Bowel Cancer UK, Orchid, CALM or St Richard's Hospice. Thank you!
From the north or south take junction 6 off the M5 and follow the A449 towards Worcester City Centre. From the West take the A443 and A44, both offer good access to the city centre.
Follow the brown racecourse signs. The Centre Course car park post code is WR1 3EH. The stable yard post code is WR1 3ED.
There are frequent British Rail services to Worcester Foregate Station which is 10 minutes walk from the Racecourse and also to Worcester Shrubhill Station which is a 20 minute walk or 5/10 minute taxi ride from the racecourse.
These will be situated close the Event Hub.
This is located next to the registration tents at the Event Hub. Please note that space is limited so it is best to travel as lightly as possible.
The group warm up will commence approximately 20 minutes before the 5K is due to start.
The 5K run will begin at 10.30 am in front of the main stand and will take you twice around the Racecourse so we will start gathering you into the start area at 10.20 am. The run will finish where it began.
The 10K run will start from the same place, 10 minutes after the start of the 5K, and take you four times around the Racecourse.
When you cross the finish line you’ll be handed your Sanlam Go Dad Run medal and your Big Yellow Goodie Bag. The first three home in each of the 5K and 10K will also be awarded special prizes.
Racing has taken place at the Pitchcroft course, close to the banks of the River Severn, since at least 1718, making Worcester one of the oldest racecourses in Britain.
Flat racing was discontinued in 1966, but the National Hunt meetings continued to provide competitive racing with large fields. In April 2000 Arena Leisure took over the running of the Racecourse and the City
Council maintain ownership of the land and management of the maintenance of the grass area in the centre of the racetrack.
There will be marshals around the course to support and encourage you.
Drinks and snacks will be available at the finish line and there will be a water station on the course.
